Geek-mode activated: Thor

I haven't done any movie reviews for a while....hmmm...but this movie has inspired me to write!

THOR

It's like one of those movies that brings back the past - your childhood (well, my childhood ended two months ago).  Well, to those who really know me, I'm quite a geek, but not just any geek - I'm a comic geek! I'm proud to be one and Thor reminded me of how much I loved being one. Before we move on, I just have one thing to say - DC, Marvel owns you!

You are know about Thor as the Asgardian God of Thunder.  The superhero of Earth! Well I know more! He's the original member of the Avengers! He's the son of Odin! He succeeded Odin as King of Asgard and sacrificed his life and all of Asgard to end Ragnarök - the cycle of rebirth of the Asgardians. I think that's enough stuff to know that I'm a geek lol

Well, to the movie now.  I liked the choice of actors and the play with the original script.  I didn't like the choice to introduce the Warriors Three and Lady Sif WITHOUT INTRODUCING BALDER! I mean, Balder is Thor's best friend! 

And why did they kill Laufey so early? And why does Loki get to kill Laufey? I mean Laufey is meant to live a long time more until peace is disturbed...

Now the best parts of the story! First, the cameo appearance of HAWKEYE! For those who don't know, Agent Barton, the guy that was aiming at Thor when Thor was fighting Shield for Mjionir is Hawkeye.  Another epic part would be the sequel! I mean there's going to be a new destroyer probably a more powerful one...it just occurred to me that the ending part of Thor may not be for Thor II but actually for Avengers! haha...I mean, it was Loki in the first place that accidentally formed the Avengers when he made a threat that Thor could not face alone.  OOOO!!!! Geek mode overdrive! 

It's an epic movie that makes not only comic nuts drool :)

Carls Jn. and Clash of the Titans

Wow!!! Fourteen weeks of lectures and studying is finally over!

So after the two dreaded exams...the time to party came!!

We wasted so much time at first trying to decide where to go...it was between Tropicana City, One Utama, and Midvalley Megamall...after three hours after the last paper we finally headed to Midvalley.

Went with Sez Kien, Shi An Yiling, Keong, Desmond, Rishen, Hian Woon and Anuar.

Shi An, Yilin, Anuar, Hian Woon, Rishen, and I went to Carls Jn. to eat!

This is the only place where I would order a small meal... =D

In the end, I ended up eating up everyone else's fries.

Speaking of fries:

Anyways...

Later Rishen, Anuar, and I met up with Juandy and Harmika Jaya and we went to watch Clash of the Titans...in 3D =D

It was my first ever movie in 3D but I was disappointed =/

Baaaaatttt...

The glasses are awesome xD

anyways...the plot could not be helped since it IS a remake of an old movie...

The animation was awesome as I expected...but I guess the movie was never meant to be viewed in 3D...

I love the scorpion fight, and the kraken scene...

Now to kill the plot...

They said that Zeus created people.

They also said that the gods' immortality depended on the people.

So how can the gods exist before mankind if they survived on people? And if they survived on people, how could Zeus create them?

Now you know why no one worship the Greek gods anymore...they contradict themselves.

In overall terms...the movie is an entertaining, all-action, fast-moving show.  Just go there not expecting too much...

Percy Jackson

I never read the book, but I heard it was a good book.  So when I went to watch it yesterday, I was disappointed.  The beginning was nice when Zeus and Poseidon met, but they could have had more 'OMPH'

The storyline was quite good--at the beginning, but it got predictable later on.  I expected the movie to be about Percy and his friend's search for the lightning thief but in the end, it was their search for--of all things--pearls.

The movie was disappointing, and it was only the CGI that made up for the weak plot.  There were too many holes in the movie...if you watch it, at the end try asking things that could happen and you would find out that a lot of the 'rules' were broken.

Avatar: Movie of the Year

Watched it yesterday.

One of the most secretive movie of 2009, knocked out the other movies flat.  Nothing this original ever happened since the Quest For Camelot.  The plot was not only exciting but also had a hidden meaning.  The story was kind of something like Lord of The Rings--having to do with the destruction of the world.  If you see the Na'vi (The blue people) as the American Indians and the humans as the...the...humans, you have yourself a case of: White men and their thirst for riches would do anything to get rich even if it means killing off a race of people...e.g. Cortez and the Aztecs.

'Somehow' the hero of this movie just had to have a twin that so 'conveniently' died so the hero had to replace his brother due to the almost identical DNA.  Reminds me of Eagle Eye.

But one word for Avatar: Wow.
Another word for Avatar: Breathtaking.

Rumors of this movie came out around the beginning of this year.  The title was known ever since January, the trailer came out only months from the release, but nothing much was known about what the movie was about.  Now I understand--it was a movie worth the secrecy.

When I watched it, I got a stomachache--the type of stomachache you get when you play too much COD4.  Avatar was that real.  You felt like you were on Pandora.

The animation beat Transformers FLAT...let me rephrase that: Transformer's animation did not come close to the realism in Avatar.  Most of the movie was animated but you would only notice it if you know that none of those plants and animals exist.        

Before Avatar, I would say the best movie of this year was Up.  Now Up is number two.

Avatar is a must watch. 

2012: We Were Warned

Watched 2012 today...

It was an awesome show! The graphics are good and the storyline was awesome.  But I must say, it was quite predictable.

I loved it because it portrayed humanity as humanity.  From the simple acts of compassion to the stone-hearted decisions that could destroy the world, this movie showed what could happen if we allow circumstance to rule us.

This movie wasn't as big as a hit as the director's last movie--The Day After Tomorrow--but I believe that this is a must watch especially in the surround sound of a cinema.

I remember when The Day After Tomorrow came out--how the papers published so many articles saying that the end will come soon, how I so naively believed everything that the newspapers published, and how they scared the world out of me.

The director must have either a passion for the end of the world, a love to show how humans will behave in the worst of circumstances, or both.

But will the world end in 2012?  Here's something to think about: Because we predict the world will end in 2012, it wouldn't cause Jesus said that it would come at an unexpected hour.  But if we believe in this than we wouldn't expect the end to occur in 2012, but then that just makes it possible for 2012 to be the end.

Confusing? Good! xD

The movie is satisfaction guaranteed.  Forget about the negative remarks it got.

Up

The day after I watched G.I.Joe, I watched...UP!

Well, when it first came out, I was not excited in watching it, but since I went out with my family, and since I've already watched G.I.Joe, I gave it a shot.

I was not disappointed! It is an awesome movie with a hidden meaning--Holding on to the past keeps you from the future.

I seriously promote this show. It's filled with just enough repetitative humour to keep your smiling. Disney and Pixar really outdid themselves this time! A big thumbs Up to Up.

It's an aweome show...cross-my-heart! (watch the movie to understand why I said that xP)

G.I.Joe

watched G.I.Joe on Monday! It was a classic all-action American Movie xD

It was awesome because they packed the hstory of the main characters in that two-hour slot and still had more action than you can think of.

The best scene was when they used the Accelerator Suits:

The best-remembered character is Snake Eyes (the !st pics).

It's a cinema movie...a movie worth watching with surround sound xD

Transformers

Finally, after weeks since its release, I've watched Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen...yay!!

In my opinion, it was better than the last one--in plot. It took the Transformers back to the beginning of man-kind. It continued two years after the first movie which was released two years ago...strange? It talked about President Obama and about the Swine Flu (Influenza A). The fight scenes were better directed too.

But there were a few 'problems' in the movie. They introduced so many new characters and did not develop them enough. I can understand if they do not develop the Decepticons but at least continue developing the Autobot's background. They didn't introduce the new Autobot Jolt, just Arcee and the twins...they didn't say the twin's names either. Then in the end battle, they introduced like eight plus Decepticons that looked like they were cut and pasted. One more problem...the twins looked so fake when they were in the desert's sun.

Other than that, I guess the animation was awesome as usual. Can't wait for the next movie!!

Night At The Museum

yesterday was a long day.

First we went to to Mutiara Damansara, because my sister had an interview with Peter and Jane. We went to Tesco to wait for her. When she was done, we went to Help to inquire about my and my sister's future--Psychology. After Help we went to Sunway University for the very same purpose.

Then we went to 1 Utama to watch a movie! Finally after months:

The Battle Of The Smithsonian

We bumped into Zhiling at the cinema to find out that we were watching the same movie.

The movie wasn't as funny as expected, but it was okay--quite draggy. I like the bobble-head Einsteins and the scene where the centurion runs to the white house.

After the movie we went around to the Craft Haven to buy things. Then I went to MPH. I finally bought Night Watch the first book of the Night Watch Trilogy. I have already collected the last two books but failed to find the first. Now I have the complete trilogy...yay!!

Then I was called to go to Arena to eat. On the way there I looked up to see a familiar face on the higher floor--Tian Xi. I went up stairs to find him and Ken Vyn there. It was funny cos I thought Ken Vyn was a little kid...xD

After food I went to YCA. I finally got my pay from last year...RM60. It was meant to be RM240 but I forgot to pay this months fees so yah.
